Ruler 2 for iPad – First Look | PadGadget

When Apple started its “There’s an app for that” commercial campaign for the iPhone several years ago, lots of unique apps began to hit the App Store.  Ruler 2 for iPad and iPhone from developers Andrew and Alexa Kazmierski is an example of a basic tool “reinvented for a world where we all want to use less to do more, wherever, whenever.”

Users wanting to measure items can do it easily with the $0.99 Ruler 2 app.  After a short demo showing you exactly how to measure both short and long items, you’re on your way and ready to take on everything from math homework to home improvement projects.

Line objects up with the inside edge on your iPad, move the sliding pointer to the end of the object and view the digital readout.   Users may select between inches with fractions for precise measurements or centimeters with decimals.  Have several measurements to make?  No problem.  You’ll easily be able to track and record measurements with the LED scrap paper feature.  Ruler 2 supports the iPhone4’s Retina display and in celebration of their new release, the developers are kicking off a contest for a brand new iPod touch (with Retina display & FaceTime), iPod nano, Apple TV, and iPod shuffle! Visit their website, enter the contest and try your luck.  Who knows, maybe you’ll be a winner!

According to Ruler 2 developers, their new app has been”completely rethought & redesigned for far better usability (and fun). We realized we did a half-assed job last time, so we made a new app. This time, we’re proud.”  You be the judge.
